Biography

Cal Bento is a one man band with different artistic ambitions hailing from the capital city of Finland, Helsinki. In his music he is primarily striving to amalgamate all that has influenced him musically. But whether this is achieved or not is of little relevance. There is no ethos here, no manifesto, no subjective opinion artificially forced into an objective fact. Ditch the dogmas and genres. Embrace time and sound.

Growing up in the midst of classical music, wide open spaces are a big contributor to the overall musical landscape and atmosphere. These spaces give away for ticking rhythms, lofty basses, distorted soundscapes and crafty sound designs. Embedded are guitar riffs, both acoustic and electric and both recognizable and unrecognizable demonstrating a long history with rock music. Templates follow pop-esque conventions with a good dose of structural liberty.

The Polished Rust EP was long in the making and at last it is published. Songs that were included were conceived in the beginning with a guitar or a piano save but one. The following processes were different and took very different times to finish. Starting is easy, finishing is hard. While the debut EP is out it´s time to look towards live shows.
